Something Re-Remembered

Brautigan
We were getting nostalgic, which is something that happens sometimes when our kids are around, and we got onto the subject of Richard Brautigan.

When was the last time you thought of Brautigan? If ever? He has, let's say, not worn well since his '60s heyday. Brautigan could write drivel, or he could be weirdly, there's-more-to-this-than-meets-the-eye-but-I-don't-know-what-it-is profound.

Here's Brautigan from 1970 (from a volume called "Rommel Drives on Deep Into Egypt"):

Formal Portrait
I like to think of Frankenstein as a huge keyhole and the laboratory as the key that turns the lock and everything that happens afterward as just the lock turning.
